Words
from our Program Leader

Belinda Newick

It is with great pride that I acknowledge the achievements of our graduating students from the Class of 2025 from the Advanced Diploma of Jewellery and Objects design at Melbourne Polytechnic.

Congratulations to each and every one of you.

Completing a two-year, full-time program is a significant accomplishment, requiring dedication, resilience, technical skills and adaptability. Some of you began your journey with us through short courses, progressing from the Certificate II in Engineering (Jewellery) to the Advanced Diploma. This pathway reflects your commitment to learning, to curiosity and creative practice.

This year, 34 students are graduating, each having created work revealing a remarkable range of skills, conceptual depth, and technical skills. The works presented in OPUS are the culmination of intensive workshop practice, research, and creative exploration undertaken between March and November. These pieces showcase not only individual talent but also the collaborative spirit that has defined this cohort.

As you embark on your professional and creative journeys, we hope you will remain connected to our community—reflecting on your experiences and continuing to evolve as artists and designers. Your work has the power to inspire, challenge, and transform. The future is bright with the promise of your emerging talent.

We wish you every success.
